dinehood.com
Mail verification hosts
If you found dinehood.com in your mail server logs: the hosts
under this domain check whether email addresses can receive mail. Our
customers use these checks to keep their address lists clean, for example
so that a sign-up confirmation is not sent to a mistyped address.
What these hosts do
- Open an SMTP connection to the mail server responsible for an address.
- Ask whether the mailbox exists (
RCPT TO), then end the session before any message is transmitted (QUIT). - Keep the number of connections to each mail server low, and back off when a server asks us to.
What they do not do
- They never send email: no newsletters, no marketing, no message content.
- They do not try to guess addresses or test passwords.
How to recognise our hosts
- Name:
v<number>.dinehood.com, for examplev1.dinehood.com. - Reverse DNS of the connecting IP points to that name, and the name points back to the IP.
- HELO is the same name; the envelope sender is
postmaster@verify.dinehood.com.
